Frequently Asked Questions

Who can shop at Teachers' Supply Closet?

Teachers of the schools currently selected to recieve donations are eligible to shop at Teachers' Supply Closet. Our goal is to open our doors to all teachers in the Charleston Tri-County area who work at a school that has at least 95 percent of their students on the free or reduced price meal program. This goal will be achieved when we have received the appropriate funding and donations to support our expansion.

Are there fees for shopping at Teachers' Supply Closet?

No, school supplies and other materials at our store are provided at no charge to teachers. We are able to offer this free service because of the generosity and participation of our sponsors, donors and volunteers.

Can teachers take whatever they want at the store?

All merchandise at Teachers' Supply Closet is available to teachers. The quantity teachers can take depends on the number of supplies available. Teachers will be able to shop once a semester during the school calendar year.

What types of merchandise are available at Teachers' Supply Closet?

We make every effort to offer a variety of basic school supplies, such as pencils, paper, crayons, notebooks, glue and scissors at all times. We receive donations from a lot of different sources, so other materials we offer will vary and may include books, art and craft supplies, and desk supplies.

How does Teachers' Supply Closet obtain its merchandise?

We solicit and accept donations year-round of new and gently used school, art, and office supplies, excess inventory, slightly damaged merchandise, and outdated and tradeshow products from businesses, companies and individuals.
