Teachers' Supply Closet never charges teachers for any of the goods or services that we provide. Therefore, we rely entirely on the kindness and generosity of people like you!

There are many ways to help, whether you would like to give a monetary gift to support our mission or you have some school supplies that you would like to donate. All contributions are greatly appreciated by our staff and teachers that we support.

When Teachers Run Out, Students Go Without — Help Us Close the Gap

Every year, thousands of teachers across Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties walk into
classrooms and reach into their own pockets to buy what their students need: notebooks, glue sticks, paper, and scissors. Since 2008, Teachers' Supply Closet (TSC) has existed so they don't have to the only organization in South Carolina doing this work, standing in the gap so teachers can focus on teaching.

This year alone, TSC has already provided supplies to support 5,520 students through 368 teacher visits to our Free Store — supplies valued at $81,193 in the first quarter of 2026 alone. Since our founding, that impact totals more than $8.6 million in school supplies delivered to over 356,000 students across 71 eligible Title I schools in our community.

But today, we're asking for help.

Grant funding and corporate giving — sources TSC has relied on for years — have dropped significantly this year. At the same time, the need from teachers hasn't slowed down. Our Free Store shelves need to stay stocked, and that depends on the generosity of our community.

That's why we've launched a two-week emergency appeal with a goal of raising $200,000 to purchase school supplies for the upcoming season.

We're asking our TSC Friends — the donors, volunteers, and community members who have always
shown up for our teachers and students — to help us close this gap.
A gift of $125 helps restock a teacher's classroom for a full visit to our Free Store. A gift of $475, our average teacher "shopping" total, fully supports one teacher for the season.

Whatever you're able to give goes directly toward the supplies our 71 partner schools are counting on this year.

Thank you for standing with the teachers and students of our community. Together, we can make sure no teacher has to choose between their paycheck and their classroom.
